I-Coaching

I-Coaching is when someone comes alongside the church and community to assist in contextualizing and implementing the material for the purpose of the church engaging in the community through an incarnational approach.

The first process in I-Coaching is to provide the tools and guidance to exegete the community. This is a process to gain an understanding of the community from a historical point of view through its current state. The second process is to gain an understanding of the community and to live out an incarnational approach to ministry. The church and the community identify their assets in order to build upon these assets and identify the felt-needs of the community.  The church will have clarity of its purpose and mission as it relates to and collaborates with the community. Finally, the collaboration will be established with and through the church for the purpose of community transformation.

I-Coaching provides an understanding of a community and outlines steps for implementation of the dynamics of Collaborative Community Transformation. The three major areas in the entrance into community transformation are spiritual formation, new way of living, and missional approach. Within each of these areas are the dynamics of community transformation.  Spiritual formation includes personal transformation and personal/leadership development. New way of living consists of incarnational presences, collaboration and empowerment. Finally, missional approach brings a focus to a felt-need concept, which is asset-based and church-based. Each of these dynamics is an important aspect for the church to address and build upon to bring about community transformation.

I-Coaching is also offered to churches in pastoral transition and churches desiring to transition to a missional approach. This approach requires Bruce to spend 2-4 days per week with the church in pastoral transition. He serves as an interim pastor while working with church leadership and training key peoples in ministry. He provides that pathway for the church to be missional and engaged in their community. Then he works to transition to the next pastor for the church.

I-Coaching is offered to churches who desire to make the transition to a missional focus. This is done through the work of Christian Resource Ministries (CRM) ReWire.

The distinctiveness of I-Coaching is that Bruce engages with the organization, church, community for an ongoing basis to facilitate change from the grass roots while coaching leadership.
